Walter J. Barnes Electric Co., Inc. is an electrical contracting firm originally founded in 1932 and incorporated under the laws of the State of Louisiana in 1960. It has been owned and operated by the Ellis Family since 1965. Barnes Electric is experienced in all forms of electrical construction, including power, lighting, controls, overhead and underground high voltage distribution, instrumentation, telecommunications, fiber optics, and electrical shop fabrication. We currently serve the commercial, industrial, institutional, and municipal markets. Contract types include firm price (both bid and negotiated), cost-plus, cost-plus with a guaranteed maximum price, fixed fee, and unit price. Engineering capabilities include for design-build projects, assistance on projects requiring a fast track schedule, or value engineering. Barnes Electric is a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association and operates under a labor agreement with the Local Union #130, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. We are licensed in the state of Louisiana (License #448) to perform the following work: Building Construction Electrical Work (statewide) Municipal and Public Works Construction Instrumentation and Calibration Telecommunications Fiber Optic Cable Splicing We are also licensed to perform electrical work in the state of Mississippi (License #4216). Located at our headquarters at 432 Dakin Street in Jefferson Parish is our main office, warehouse, shop, and yard facility. Field offices and storage facilities are established at all project sites with communications, data processing, and transportation equipment, as required. Same day or next day delivery of materials and tools is provided for all jobs by our Purchasing and Warehouse departments.
